During the building works mentioned earlier, Midgie also acquired a small dent on her rear. Nothing major, but an unsightly blemish. Fortunately, my father-in-law used to work in Jack Barclay’s bodyshop and, while Midgie is no Bentley, he did take great care in removing the dent.
While he tapped away at the back, I removed and painted the radiator grille. This was the one part of the car that had any sign of rust, being so exposed. I decided to try something a little unusual – while I am a fan of the rubber bumper look (I am a child of the 70s and therefore influenced strongly by the 80s, after all) – this is my little homage to the chrome look. Or to be precise, matt silver Hammerite.
